Court in Ghana postpones hearing in Daddy Lumba widow case
The Kumasi High Court in Ghana has adjourned a case concerning Madam Akosua Serwaa Fosuh, who claims to be the legal wife of the late Ghananian highlife musician, Daddy Lumba, until October 28, 2025. The adjournment follows a challenge from the first defendant, Abusua Panin Kofi Owusu, questioning Madam Akosua's legal standing.
According to state-owned Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Presiding Judge Her Ladyship Dorinda Arthur postponed the proceedings to first address this issue before delving into the main case.
The second and third defendants, Ms. Priscilla Ofori (Odo Broni) and the Transitions Funeral Home, have been granted 14 days to present the necessary documents.
As a result, the application for an injunction against the defendants is on hold until the court resolves the challenge to the plaintiff’s capacity.
Her Ladyship Arthur also encouraged the parties to consider settling the matter through Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Mr. Henry B A Baidoo, part of the plaintiff's legal team, expressed readiness to settle the case out of court and criticized Abusua Panyin Kofi Owusu for prolonging the dispute.
Madam Akosua filed the lawsuit on October 2, 2025, aiming to assert her rights following the death of Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, on July 26, 2025.
The family has scheduled his final funeral rites for December 6, 2025, at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, though these plans may change due to the ongoing legal proceedings.
