Father arrested for allegedly killing four of his children

In a shocking development, Wellington Delano Dickens III, a 34-year-old man from North Carolina in the US, has been arrested and charged with the murder of four children. Authorities allege that Dickens concealed their bodies in a trunk for several months.

The tragic case came to light when Dickens was taken into custody on October 27, facing four counts of murder related to the deaths of Leah Dickens, 6; Zoe Dickens, 9; Wellington Dickens, 10; and Sean Brasfield, 18, his stepson.

The investigation began late Monday night when Dickens made a 911 call, confessing to the murders. In a chilling revelation, he mentioned that his 3-year-old son was alive and inside the house.

Responding officers found the child unharmed and subsequently discovered the remains of multiple bodies in the trunk of a vehicle located in the garage.

According to the sheriff, the remains had been in the trunk for an extended period, with the date of the offenses noted as May 1. This unsettling detail adds a grim layer to the case as the community grapples with the implications of such a tragedy.

As the Johnston County Sheriff's Office continues its investigation, the State Medical Examiner's Office will assist in positively identifying the victims.

Initially arrested for the murder of one child, Dickens now faces additional charges as the investigation unfolds, highlighting the complexity and depth of this disturbing case.

This incident is particularly poignant given that it follows the death of Dickens' wife, Stephanie Rae Jones Dickens, in April 2024. Now, Dickens sits in custody without bond at the Johnston County Jail, with a probable cause hearing scheduled for November 13.

He will be assigned a public defender to represent him in this harrowing situation, as the community seeks answers and justice for the victims.
