Gaddafi to appear in court for the first time in ten years
Hannibal Gaddafi, son of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, will appear before the Lebanese Court of Cassation this Friday for the first time in ten years.
He has been detained in Lebanon since December 2015 on charges related to the 1978 disappearance of Shiite cleric Musa Al-Sadr.
Gaddafi, who is married to a Lebanese woman, will be accompanied by one of his lawyers during the hearing.
According to The Lybia Observer, recently, the Badr Al-Deen family, a civil party in the case, agreed to his request for release, prompting the investigating judge to refer the matter to Public Prosecutor Jamal Al-Hajjar.
Last Wednesday, al-Hajjar did not issue a ruling, leaving the decision to Judge Zahir Hammadeh.
Gaddafi was discharged from the hospital last Tuesday after a brief stay and returned to prison. His lawyers have been attempting to visit him but have not yet received permission.
